I'm just going to post this on my blog as well because I keep trying to send it and post it on the Discussion board on blackboard and it won't go, so I'll just post it here and then try again later to post it on blackboard. So here is my outline for the first project. I don't know if it counts or anything, but at least than it shows that I did it.
Name: Roxana Law
Section Number: Monday 4:00 – 4:50
Spanish Music
Summary:
Students will have the opportunity to create a power point presentation for a song that they like in Spanish. They will pick out 5-7 vocabulary words from the song and then present them on the power point with the definitions of the words. Then they can present it to the class and teach the class the new song and also explain the song to the class in Spanish.
Intended Learning Outcomes:
• Students will be able to make a power point presentation
• Students will be able to learn new vocabulary words and find ways to teach their classmates the words as well.
• They will be able to present the song and it’s meaning to the class in Spanish.
• All students will be able to present their knowledge of the new vocabulary words.
Core Curriculum Standard:
Spanish, Intermediate Spanish Class (could be adapted for lower levels or upper levels as well).

Standard Three: Students present information, concepts, and ideas to listeners and readers for a variety of purposes.
Materials and Technologies Used:
• Power Point Program
• Computer
• Projector
• White Screen
• CD Player
Instructional Procedures:
Attention Getter: An example of the song and power point presentation that I did.
Outline:
1: Explain to the students the requirements for the assignment. Hand out the rubrics to each student. 10 minutes
2: show my example of the assignment as a kind of guide 10 minutes
3: Give them 15 minutes to look on the internet for words to some Spanish songs that they might want to do.
4: For the remainder of class start with Lesson 5 in the book about the culture in Argentina
5: Students will need to know what song that they will do for next class and have the words with them.
The second day of class
1. Bring a song and start looking up the definitions to the vocabulary words.
2. Find examples and pictures on the internet to present the vocabulary words.
3. Put the power point presentation together.
This should probably take the whole class period, but if kids get done early they can do the folder assignments (pink folder) for extra credit or they can make up an assignment that they’ve missed in that time.
The third day
1. Start with the presentations.
2. The presentations would be three students each day. Each presentation should be about 10 minutes. (so that they don’t get bored of the constant songs. We actually will be trying to learn the songs.)
3. After the songs are presented then we will have a discussion about the song and the singer and why the students picked that particular song. This conversation will be done only in Spanish. (If the students appear to be done with the song conversation and are getting bored then we will continue on with part two of Lesson 5 that we started the first day of this assignment.)
Assessment Plan:
Each student will be assed according to their actual power point presentation content and their ability to present it to the class.
Power Point Presentation Content
5 10 15 20
Vocabulary words chosen (Are there at least 5 words? Are they words that the class already knows? Can have one word that the class knows especially if the student doing the presentation didn’t know it before hand.)
Examples and pictures used to define the words. (Do they correctly describe the word?)
Are the words to the song (or portion of the song that we are learning, on the presentation so that we can sing along? Or optional students can make copies of the words of the song to hand out to the class.)
Is the song appropriate for our class? Is it at our level (nothing like the itsy bitsy spider for an intermediate class.)
In Class Presentation
5 10 15 20
Did you explain the vocabulary? (not just showing the picture, but actually describing it and giving verbal examples as well)
Did you explain what the song was about? (doesn’t have to be a line for line explanation, but at least the chorus and the general idea of the song)
Was the presentation done in Spanish?
Technology Evaluation:
I think that the technology will impact my classroom because they will be giving the lesson and participating in their classmates presentations. They will have the chance to teach each other. I think that it will be good as well in developing their speaking skills because they will have to give their presentations in Spanish.
It will strengthen the subject matter because they will be learning vocabulary and they will be able to see the words that they are learning. Plus it will be easier for the students giving the presentations because they have an outline on what to speak about because they have the pictures and they know the song and what it’s about. They will be more comfortable with the language.
